It is back! The famous Carentan Liberty March, dear to the hearts of re-enactors eager to be immersed in historical places, in the most authentic and respectful way, is coming back next June within the framework of the commemorations of the 78th anniversary of D Day.
After an absence of two years, the organisers of the Carentan Liberty Group are proposing a new and original route on Saturday 4 June, following the traces of the battles for the liberation of Carentan carried out by all the units of the 101st Airborne Division.
“Walking where they fought” is the motto of the commemorative march organised for the last 9 years by the CARENTAN LIBERTY GROUP.
Each year, the CARENTAN LIBERTY GROUP proposes a new route to the 200 or so re-enactors who come from more than ten countries. The commented routes focus on one or another axis of the American advance that led to the liberation of the city.
The re-enactors are supervised by the members of the CLG, who take great care to respect the historical reality, the uniforms, the weaponry and also the behaviour of the participants.
